Cottage and Apartment Stays in Ontario with Alpacas

Let’s start with the most luxurious and bougiest of all alpaca farm stays I’ve found. Cottages and apartments.

These three listings place you directly on alpaca farms whilst providing the full comfort of home as part of your overnight experience.

SHED Chetwyn Farm - Alpaca Walk

Stay at this massive Loyalist style cottage at SHED Chetwyn Farms

SHED Chetwyn Farms is an active and popular working alpaca farm in Prince Edward County.

This 55-acre farm combines sustainable alpaca farming, design, fashion, and retail practice into one location.

Chetwyn Farms welcomes visitors from around the world and regularly hosts VIP events, lectures, tours and workshops from mid-May to Christmas.

Their “farm cottage” is a unique one-of-a-kind setting in Prince Edward County. With 1,200 sq ft of cottage space, a baby grand piano at your fingerprints, and children-friendly home comforts like a high chair available, this is the most luxurious and child-friendly option on this list.

Things you can do with alpacas at SHED Chetwyn Farms:

  • Do as little or as much alpaca farm chores as you’d like during your stay. You have the option to join the Farm Manager twice daily to learn and take care of all the farm chores required to maintain an alpaca farm
  • Shop for farm-made alpaca merchandise — Housed in a former chicken coop, shop at the SHED for locally spun-yarns, hand-made felted soaps, alpaca accessories, throws and uniquely produced alpaca bean products (organic natural fertilizers)

Millen+Smith Acres Farms is currently the only listing I know of where you can stay in a geodome glamping site with alpacas in Ontario. Okay, technically you’ll be staying with sheep, chickens, geese, ducks, goats, cows, horses, and two potbellied pigs on top of the alpacas. But still!

Like their farm stay apartment listing, you’ll also have access to the same amenities including the treehouse, the playground, the pond, and the farm onsite. Similarly, you may also have the chance to meet the 4 resident dogs that stay on this property as well.

Have a sleepover with alpacas! Stay in the alpaca pen at the Haute Goat

Don’t let the name of the farm mislead you. While Haute Goat does specialize in Nigerian Dwarf Goats, and it has an amusingly named goat-themed cafe “Screaming Goat Cafe”, this farm is also the home to Huacaya Alpacas, baby alpacas, exotic chickens, Icelandic Horses, Tornjack Livestock guard dogs, and a mule named “Lucy”.

Haute Goat offers a plethora of cute goat and alpaca-themed events regularly offered on their farm that you and your family will be sure to love. If even names like ‘Goatchella’ and ‘Haute Goat Shmurgle’ don’t pique your interest… then I don’t know what will!

While the events are often day trip experiences only, they also offer the very unique experience to have a sleepover with alpacas. That’s right, you can sleep beside the alpacas inside their alpaca pens. Enjoy this ultra-close experience at the Haute Goat farm life in Northumberland County.

In addition to staying overnight in a place with alpacas and goats, guests can also look forward to:

  • Farm-style breakfast included as part of their stay
  • ($) dinner from the Screaming Goat Cafe
  • Fun interactive trails on the 200-acre farm (according to other Airbnb guests)
